Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation

Abstract

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia observed in clinical practice, affecting 1-2% of the general population. AF is associated with reductions in quality of life, functional status, cardiac performance, and survival. In addition, AF accounts for 1.0-2.7% of total annual healthcare expenditures, with a sizeable proportion of these expenses attributed to direct costs associated with emergency department visits and acute care hospitalisation.
